The police department is facing a staffing shortage that has affected the patrol division, according to multiple reports.
CHESHIRE, CT — School resource officers have been temporarily removed from Cheshire schools due to a staffing shortage within the police department, according to multiple reports, including WTNH News 8.
Cheshire Police Chief Neil Dryfe told WTNH that the department’s patrol staffing was “reaching a critical level” due to several resignations and retirements over the past five months.
Two school resource officers have been transferred to the patrol division to help fill the void, according to WTNH.
