STELLAR SEASON FOR THE FALL 2022 CHS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS.

The Fall 2022 Cheshire High School Girls Cross Country team had a stellar season. All three of their teams, which includes the varsity, junior varsity & frosh divisions had an undefeated season according to their Head Coach Rob Schaefer. The Tri-Captains for the team were Seniors Megan Rossi, Alexandra Palladino & Samantha Mudry.

They kicked off their season in North Haven with 3 victories on September 8th.The Rams defeated Lauraton Hall & Foran both from Milford and North Haven. This win gave their Head Coach Rob Schaefer his 300th win milestone after 34 years of coaching the Lady Rams Cross Country Teams.

At the Wilton Cross Country Invitational On September 17, 2022, in each of the races CHS took 3rd Place in the 1.5-mile frosh race, the JV 2.5 mile race the Rams took 12th place, and varsity 2.5 race CHS took 6th place. On September 20th they met at the Madison Surf Club against Daniel Hand, Career Magnet & Hamden. The team racked up 3 more victories in Madison against these teams.

On September 24th at the Winding Trails Invitational 3.1-mile race in Farmington the team won 2nd place.

On Sep 29, 2022, they competed at the SCC Divisional Championship in Guilford where they won 1st Place. The Rams are now the 2022 Housatonic Division Champions again for the 2nd consecutive year and they have won it 12 or 13 times previously commented Head Coach Rob Schaefer.

At the Wickham Invitational Cross Country Meet at Manchester's Wickham Park on October 8th the CHS Girls Cross Country Teams continued their winning ways there.
The varsity team came in 8th place. The JV team came in 9th place. The Frosh team finished in 4th Place.

On October 11, 2022, the girls team defeated Branford, Middletown’s Mercy High School & Milford’s Jonathan Law in Cheshire. Cheshire’s Alexa Ciccone finished 1st again with a time of 18:41 where she set a new course record and shattering her old time, which she set in 2021 which was 19:25.

On Friday, Oct 14, 2022, at Wharton Brook State Park in North Haven the Rams defeated Wallingford's Lyman Hall. On October 19th for the SCC Cross Country Championships in New Haven the CHS Varsity & Frosh Teams were crowned the Southern Connecticut Conference Champions and the JV Team won 6th Place. During this meet Alexa Ciccone, Emily D’Souza, & Mia Vientos were named to the All SCC First Team. Eva Curran & Ava Ciccone were named to the All SCC Second Team.

At the CIAC Cross Country Divisional Championships at Wickham Park in Manchester on October 29, 2022, the Rams won 4th Place and this team proved they are the best female area runners around. Two Student CC Athletes Alexa Ciccone & Mia Vientos made the All-State Team for this meet. Schaefer commented, “Two All Staters is a coach’s dream.” The team qualified for the CIAC State Open Championships on November 4th in Manchester.

At the November 4th meet the team made the Top Ten Teams winning 9th Place. Ater this meet Cheshire's Alexa Ciccone qualified for the New England Interscholastic Cross-Country Championships for the 2ndConsecutive year. This year's meet was held in Rhode Island on November 12th. For the New England Meet Ciccone made the Top 5 Athletes with a time of 18:49 placing 5th. Ciccone is considered one of the best female runners in all of New England. In 2021 Ciccone finished 29th with a time of 20:42.
