The state road project to replace the aging culvert under West Main Street is redirecting both lanes of traffic this week as excavation begins in the middle of the busy road. Traffic was reduced to one lane numerous times on Wednesday ascrews maneuvered bulldozers and backend loaders across the road. Mastrobattisto Inc. of Bristol was hired by the state to install twin 5 x 7 foot box culverts under the road to carry water from the old Farmington Canal. Work is expected to be completed by June.
