1 Pedestrian Killed, Another Injured, In Danbury Christmas Traffic: PD

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by one vehicle and police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who injured another over Christmas

DANBURY, CT — One pedestrian was killed on Christmas Eve and another severely injured on Christmas, following traffic accidents in Danbury.

The Danbury Police Department was notified around 9:18 p.m. Tuesday of a crash involving a pedestrian in the area of Main Street and Liberty Street. First responders found the pedestrian lying on the road near the sidewalk and a motor vehicle with front end damage stopped nearby.

The pedestrian was taken to Danbury Hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. Police have not yet released the name of the victim.

The motorist remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police spokesperson Erin Henry. Liberty Street was closed in both directions for several hours while the Accident Investigation Team investigated.

On Wednesday, at 7:42 p.m., Danbury police officers responded to a car versus pedestrian accident in front of 26 Lake Avenue. First responders found the pedestrian lying on the sidewalk after the motorist had left the scene driving a silver Toyota Prius, according to police.

The pedestrian was taken to Danbury Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Lake Avenue was closed in both directions for several hours while police investigated.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed either accident or saw the Prius to contact Sgt. Wakeman or Officer Wolen at 203-797-2157.
