5-Year-Old Aspiring Police Officer Holds Fundraiser for Danbury Police Department

A Danbury kindergarten student held a dress down day at St. Joseph's School to raise funds for the Danbury Police Department.

DANBURY, CT — Danbury Police Department has gotten its youngest recruit.

Five-year-old Logan Almeida, a kindergarten student at St. Joseph's School in Danbury recently held a fundraiser for the department at his school.

Logan won a contest to be "Principal for the Day" and offered the students to dress down from their normal school uniform for one dollar. All proceeds proceeds raised bought breakfast for the Danbury Police Department.

Lt. Christian Carroccio said that Logan wants to become a police officer when he grows up and wanted to do something nice for the department.

"On behalf of the Danbury Police Department, we would like to say thank you to Logan and his classmates at St. Joseph's School. Logan's generosity and thoughtfulness will resonate with the officers for a long time," Carroccio said.

Police said that in addition to bringing the officers coffee, bagels and donuts, his class and teachers will take a tour of police headquarters.

"The Danbury Police Department is always looking for highly qualified candidates, and is looking forward to receiving Logan's application in the future." Lieutenant Christian Carroccio said.
