Airplane Lands Belly-Down at Danbury Municipal Airport
The FAA is investigating a wheels-up landing Thursday night at Danbury Municipal Airport.
City officials are saying no one was injured in the belly-up landing at Danbury Municipal Airport Thursday evening.
Airport Administrator Paul Estefan said the three people in the plane escaped injury, and the Piper Seminole twin landed with its wheels retracted at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Estefan said the no-wheel landing closed the airport from about 8:30 p.m. to midnight, and any flights scheduled to land were rerouted to either Waterbury/Oxford or to the airport of their choice.

Kerri Sorenson, an aircraft mechanic, oversaw the lifting of the airplane off the ground using air bags supplied by Danbury Fire Department Engine 23. Engine 26 also helped with Squad 7. The airplane was taken to Executive Air at Danbury Airport.
The incident is under investigation and the FAA is expected to have investigators in Danbury Friday morning.
