Police said they received calls that the man was threatening to shoot people.

DANBURY, CT — A city man was arrested Saturday after police said he threw a loaded gun into the still river following a standoff with officers. Police said Vincent Mourning, 55, was found near the West Street Bridge after police had received calls about a man threatening to shoot people in the Amigos Deli parking lot.
Lt. Christian A. Carroccio said in a statement that Mourning refused officers' commands to surrender.
"Officers gave several orders for Mourning to show his hands," Carrocio said. Mourning refused to comply with the officers orders to show his hands which were in his pockets. Mourning continued walking a short distance with his back towards the officers refusing to display his hands. Mourning then pulled his hands out of his pockets and threw the handgun into the Still River, then went to his knees to surrender."
