Ben's Lighthouse Teen Volunteers Help Danbury Families in Need
Teenagers with Ben's Lighthouse worked through the holidays, and well after to spread comfort and cheer in the Danbury area.
SANDY HOOK, CT — A group of teen volunteers from Ben's Lighthouse are working past the holiday season to spread comfort and cheer. Over forty of the organization's youth volunteers have been working on special holiday service projects as well as participating in ongoing programming, according to a post on the group's Facebook page.
Volunteers assembled packages of food for homebound individuals with Hillside Food Outreach, sang holidays songs with folks at Old Glory Days in Sandy Hook, provided a warm welcome and ongoing meaningful support to refugee children, and held a successful fundraiser at a community dance event. In partnership with the Youth Volunteer Corps of Western Connecticut, Ben's Lighthouse stuffed over 65 pairs of warm winter socks with essentials and other goodies and delivered them to those in need in the Danbury and Newtown communities.
Teens who had participated in our summer outreach trip to the Blackfeet Nation in Montana sent holiday care packages to two Blackfeet organizations that they had worked with, maintaining those powerful connections.
