Danbury's Juneteenth Summer Concert on the Green returns June 20 with live music, food trucks, and local vendors.
DANBURY, CT — CityCenter Danbury, in collaboration with the Danbury Juneteenth Coalition, will host a Juneteenth Summer Concert on the Green this Friday evening to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
The free community event is scheduled for June 20, 2025, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Danbury CityCenter Green, located at 1 Ives St. The celebration will feature live soul and R&B music, food trucks, and local vendors.

“Juneteenth is a time to reflect on freedom, resilience, and progress,” said Lazaro Chavez, executive director of CityCenter Danbury. “We're thrilled to collaborate with the Danbury Juneteenth Coalition to gather our community and celebrate through music, food, and shared culture.”
The Juneteenth holiday, observed annually on June 19, marks the anniversary of federal troops arriving in Galveston, Texas, in 1865 to enforce the emancipation of enslaved people more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It has grown into a broader celebration of African American history and culture.
