Danbury Couple Tries Flushing 230 Bags of Heroin, Arrested on Numerous Charges

Danbury police said they found the couple attempting to get rid of 230 baggies of heroin by flushing it down the toilet.

DANBURY, CT — On July 28, 2016, members of the Danbury Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (S.I.D.), Community Conditions Unit and Patrol Division executed court authorized search and seizure warrants for a residence located at 1 Linden Pl, 1st flr., Danbury, after receiving numerous neighborhood complaints identifying the address as a drug house, police said.

Based on a surveillance of the area, as well as other investigative techniques, investigators detected activity that was consistent with drug trafficking, which subsequently lead to the Danbury Superior Court issuing the search warrants.

Investigators were denied entry and had to force the door open and quickly discovered Richard Cardwell in the bathroom attempting to flush a large quantity of heroin down the toilet. Due to the amount of drugs, it clogged the toilet and was retrieved before it was destroyed, police said. The toilet contents included more than 230 prepackaged bags of heroin.
