Danbury Election Results 2022: One Race Still Too Close To Call
Here's what you need to know concerning state and federal elections in Danbury.

DANBURY, CT — The polls are closed in Danbury, but votes in some races were still being tabulated well into the night.
The contest for the 138th state House District is going down to the wire, with an automatic recount triggered when the small vote margin was first tabulated. Republican Rachel Chaleski, chair of the Danbury Board of Education, is challenging two-term incumbent Democrat Kenneth Gucker. The 138th District will now be wholly contained within Danbury's borders, having lost parts of Ridgefield and New Fairfield to redistricting.
The nationally-watched 5th Congressional District race was still too close to call in the early morning hours Wednesday. The contest pits first-term Democrat Jahana Hayes against rising GOP star George Logan.

In the 24th state Senate District race, Democrat Julie Kushner fended off a challenge by Danbury Board of Education member Republican Michelle Coehlo to win her third term, Hearst CT has projected. She has cited her work to establish the state's Paid Family Medical Leave Program as an example of the "important and rewarding work" she plans to continue in Hartford.
Democrat Farley Santos, a current Danbury City Council member and former school board member, defeated Republican local businessman Jesy Fernandez in their race to represent Assembly District 109 in Hartford, Hearst CT reported. In March, Democrat David Arconti, who represented the district for five terms, announced he would not be seeking re-election.

District 2 Rep. Raghib Allie-Brennan declared victory over Republican challenger and fellow Bethel resident Jenn Lewis Tuesday night, with Bethel votes still to be counted. His lead following the unofficial tally of Danbury votes was insurmountable, according to Hearst CT. Allie-Brennan told Patch that one of the top priorities in his third term would be "protecting state funding for Bethel and Danbury [and] decreasing our reliance on local property taxes."
The district no longer includes any neighborhoods from Newtown or Redding, but covers larger portions of Bethel and Danbury, following the 2020 census.
New Fairfield resident Republican Rep. Patrick Callahan won a second term in Hartford representing the 108th District, defeating Jeff Ginsburg, the chair of the Sherman Democratic Town Committee, according to Hearst CT. Sections of Danbury, New Fairfield and New Milford join the whole of Sherman in the newly redrawn 108th District. "Affordability and public safety" were key issues on which he campaigned.
Bob Godfrey, the Democratic incumbent 110th House District representative, has served in that role for 17 terms. He'll serve at least one more, having beaten back a challenge by Republican business owner Eric Gleissner.
In the earliest call of the evening, two-term Sen. Richard Blumenthal was the projected winner in his contest with Republican Leora Levy.
Levy said she called Blumenthal to concede and wished him well in the next six years. She said she would continue to work for a more prosperous and safer America.
At the top of the ticket. Gov. Ned Lamont declared victory Tuesday in the governor race. His Republican opponent, Bob Stefanowski, said he would wait until the morning for more results.
Voters will also get to decide whether the state should allow early voting. The question on the ballot is: "Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to provide for early voting?"
