Danbury to Host ‘For The People’ March and Rally on March 8
The "For The People" march and rally in Danbury on March 8 will feature speakers addressing civic responsibility and democracy.
DANBURY, CT — Residents of Danbury and surrounding communities will gather Saturday, March 8, for the "For The People" march and rally, an event focused on civic engagement and strengthening democracy. The gathering coincides with International Women’s Day and will begin at 11 a.m. with a march down Main Street, starting at the corner of West and Main streets. The rally will follow at CityCenter Green from noon to 2 p.m.
The event will feature speakers addressing civic responsibility and democracy, including Connecticut Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas, who will discuss election integrity, and Joanne Moore, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Connecticut, who will speak on nonpartisan civic engagement. Live music, informational tables, and local organizations will also be part of the program.
"We Are Women Rising is honored to host For The People and offer a platform for our community to unite, find inspiration from insightful speakers, and identify concrete actions to ensure our government genuinely serves the people," said Lisa Del Sesto of We Are Women Rising, a co-sponsoring organization.

The rally is co-sponsored by a coalition of local organizations, including the League of Women Voters of Connecticut, Latinos for Educational Advocacy and Diversity (LEAD), and the League of Women Voters of Northern Fairfield County. Additional participating groups include The Center for Empowerment & Education and CT 50501.
Organizers describe the event as a nonpartisan gathering aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration on issues affecting Danbury and beyond.

The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available at the CityCenter Green parking garage.
