Hello Danbury!

Thank you for your recent participation in the 2025 municipal election. Danbury saw over 40% voter turnout this year, one of our strongest showings in a long time. Your participation in our government on every level, from voting to serving on a commission, is so important and keeps all of Danbury moving forward.
This past year, I am proud to share that we’ve made real progress on traffic safety. Our Bus Patrol program has rolled out, ticketing drivers who pass a stopped school bus. Speeding and other traffic enforcement from our Danbury Police Officers continues to increase across the city. We are on a mission to change driver behavior, one driver at a time. There’s still more to do, and we’ll continue working to make our roads safer for everyone.

I’m excited to keep supporting Danbury’s youth. I recently announced a new partnership with champions Glover Teixeira and Alex Pereira to bring a youth MMA program to the War Memorial, delivering a new, positive, and structured place for kids to grow. We also committed $50,000 from Cannabis revenues to the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield to support the opening of its new Danbury Clubhouse. These efforts reflect our promise to create more opportunities for young people in our city.
And as the holiday season arrives, I hope you’ll join me at the Light the Lights Festival with CityCenter Danbury on Saturday, December 6th. It’s a great way to come together, enjoy downtown, and celebrate the season as a community.
Thank you for being part of what makes Danbury special. I’m grateful for your support and excited for what’s ahead.
Sincerely,
Mayor Roberto L. Alves
NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield to Open Danbury Club House in 2026
Over the summer, I met with the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield’s leadership team to discuss expanding into Danbury. I am proud to announce that the Danbury Clubhouse is now official! Using Cannabis tax revenue, we announced a $50,000 pledge to help kick-start the Clubhouse’s opening. The Danbury Clubhouse will open at the CIFC community center in 2026 and will provide our youth a welcoming environment to foster connections with peers and the community.
Alex Pereira and Glover Teixeira Start Youth MMA Program
Together with UFC legends Glover Teixeira and current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex Pereira, we announced plans to launch a new youth MMA program at the Danbury War Memorial. World-class instructors will teach students in a structured environment that fosters strength, growth, and discipline through mixed martial arts.
School Bus Safety Program Keeps Students Safe
Danbury School Buses are powered with BusPatrol’s AI technology, which catches violators who pass a stopped school bus after its red lights are activated. This technology is meant to assist Danbury Police in changing driver behavior. This program helps Danbury prioritize the safety of our students as they are going to and from school. We appreciate the public's cooperation on our roads as we all agree, one incident is one too many.
Danbury Fair Mall Continues to SOAR
We’re proud to continue working with the Danbury Fair Mall to ensure it remains a strong destination for our residents and visitors. Recently, Jack & Jones, a popular fashion brand in Europe and Canada, chose Danbury as its first U.S. location—a huge testament to the work that the Danbury Fair Mall is doing to attract retailers. My daughter and I were also excited for the grand opening of the global retailer POP MART, the seller of the Labubu phenomenon. We’re excited that businesses are continuing to choose Danbury! #DoItInDanbury
Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Danbury!
First Year of Paving Plan Completed - MANY More Miles to go!
As we continue to stay committed to my five-year road improvement and paving plan, I am pleased to announce that we have hit our goal and paved 17 miles of paved roads in year one. Danbury is on track to continue this momentum and pave as many roads as possible each year. Danbury is fully committed to getting our City truly caught up, and the work won’t stop until that’s a reality. We’ll keep pressing on to get our roads paved!
Completion of 3 Audits; Keeping Danbury Fiscally Sound
With the needed resources, direction, and leadership, I am proud to announce that three audits have now been filed in less than two years. Work has already begun on the 2025 audit to ensure Danbury does not land back under the watch of the State. As we continue to move Danbury forward, I remain dedicated to improving the City’s financial standing and retaining our exceptional fiscal status with credit agencies.

Danbury Happenings
Fall Community Activities are in Full Swing in Danbury!
After closing out October with a Halloween celebration on Deer Hill, we got right into November’s community events! I had the chance to visit the Bazaar at St. Ann Melkite before we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Filipino-American Association of Western CT. On Veterans Day, we honored those who have put their lives on the line for our country during a veterans' ceremony at the war memorial.
Investing in our Youth, Culture, and Community
Opening a new youth MMA program and the Boys & Girls Club ‘Clubhouse’ in Danbury allows our kids to grow their interests and form relationships outside of school. The Library also hosted a Diwali celebration, and the Ice Arena hosted the annual Moustache Classic championship game to raise money and awareness for men’s cancer and mental health.
Congratulations to the DHS Marching Band for winning the Class 1A State Championship!
