Danbury Police Will Crack Down On Distracted Driving During April

DANBURY, CT — April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Danbury Police Department is taking the matter very seriously.

Through April 30, Danbury Police will double-down on distracted driving enforcement, according to a notification in social media.

Distracted driving is any activity that could divert a person’s attention away from the primary task of driving.

"You never know the cost of a text or scroll. It could be a ticket, or it could be much worse. When you get behind the wheel, put the phone away or pay," law enforcement officials warned.

In Connecticut in 2022, nearly 5,200 accidents were attributed to distracted driving. Nationally, 3,522 people were killed in traffic crashes involving distracted drivers in 2021, according to the DPD.
