Rep. Will Duff's Facebook comment has local democrats demanding an apology.

BETHEL, CT — A local politician's Facebook comment has become a story after he appeared to suggest that he would pay for liberals to leave the country, reports the News Times. Republican State Representative William Duff appeared to comment on a false article claiming French President Emmanuel Macron was offering "refugee status" to U.S. Liberals.

The Bethel Democrats posted a screenshot of the comment on their Facebook page, stating that the comment was "disparaging half of [Duff's] constituents." The post told followers to call House Minority Leader Themis Klarides and Duff to demand a public apology.

Duff represents Bethel, Danbury, Newtown and Redding.
