DANBURY, CT — Musicals at Richter (MAR) presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Richter Park. With lyrics by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, “Joseph" was first presented as a 15-minute pop show for a school in 1968. In the full-length musical, the story follows the Book of Genesis Bible story about Joseph, the favorite of Jacob's 12 sons, who receives an elaborate multicolored coat by his father.
Joseph experiences vivid dreams and the ability to tell the future. When his jealous brothers sell him into slavery, Joseph begins an adventure that leads him to discover how his special abilities can save him from difficult situations.
MAR veteran Connor Spain of Bethel is featured in title role as the favorite son of Jacob. Spain just completed MAR’s critically acclaimed run of “Footloose” in the role of Chuck Cranston and played teen heartthrob Link Larkin in last year’s MAR production of “Hairspray.” Spain is joined in “Joseph” by his “Hairspray” co-star Katie Cummings of Sandy Hook, who plays the narrator. Cummings starred as Tracy Turnblad in last year’s MAR production of “Hairspray.”
