Danbury Schools To Reopen Tuesday Following Boil Water Advisory
Students and staff have been asked to come to school with their own bottled water or a bottle of water from home that has been boiled.
DANBURY, CT — Schools will reopen Tuesday morning in Danbury after a water main break Sunday gave students an unscheduled holiday.
Out of "an abundance of caution," the City of Danbury Water System issued a Boil Water Advisory to all City Water customers after repairs were completed for an "extensive" 16" water main break on Hayestown Avenue. The boil water advisory went into effect at 10 p.m. after the break was repaired and the water had been turned back on.
In a message to families Monday afternoon, schools superintendent Kara Casimiro said changes to the district's lunch program had been necessary to open school safely Tuesday, including the use of prepackaged containers with items that do not require water as part of their preparation.

Students and staff have been asked to come to school with their own bottled water or a bottle of water from home that has been boiled. A "modest supply" of water will be on hand for studenta who need it, Casimiro said.
"Tap water and soap can be used for handwashing at this time. It is recommended to use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer after drying hands," the superintendent said.
