Danbury Small Business Spotlight: The Ice Cream Guy

Our business series features local entrepreneurs. This week we feature a Danbury business owner whose job is to satiate your sweet tooth.

DANBURY, CT-- Our Small Business Spotlight shines a light on local businesses we may not know that well.

What business are you in: A mobile ice cream business that caters off-site site events. Examples are concerts, school events, barbecues, private parties and carnivals.

How did you come up with the name: Being in the ice cream business for 23 years, people started calling me "The Ice Cream Guy," so when I started doing business in Connecticut I thought that was a good name. I have worked in all aspects of the business such as retail, sales, consulting and mobile. Our product is a hand-made, small batch, super premium ice cream.

Why start at business in this town? I moved up here 13 years ago. Although there were ice cream shops in the area making their own , there were no mobile trucks or catering of off-site events and parties. It was just your average ice cream truck selling ice cream bars and ice pops.

What's the most difficult challenge you've faced as a business owner? Keeping a hand made quality product at reasonable prices.

What's been your proudest achievement since opening? Being chosen as the premier ice cream vendor in the Danbury area.

How does your business give back to the community? Doing fundraisers for the local schools and nonprofit organizations and being part of the Ana Grace Project of Sandy Hook.
