
The Danbury Music Center will honor James Humphreville, music director, emeritus, for 55 years of service, at its annual Grand Gala, March 30, the Matrix Conference and Banquet Center.
The event features the Danbury Symphony Orchestra, finger foods, cash bar and a silent auction.

Jim Humphreville has shaped the musical activities of the Danbury Music Centre since the 1950s playing a major role in the development of the Nutcracker Ballet and Messiah, both well loved and well known for heralding in the holiday season. During his illustrious musical career, he was also Director of the Danbury Opera and Music Coordinator for the Danbury Public School System.
From 1977 to his retirement in April 2000, Mr. Humphreville was the beloved Music Director and Conductor of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. Upon his retirement, he was named Music Director, Emeritus by the Board of Directors. Even in retirement, Mr. Humphreville continues to be a strong presence at the Danbury Music Centre, conducting each Grand Gala for the past 7 years. We hope to continue this relationship for many years to come.
