Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama by Elmer Rice, Weill's Boardway opera combines show tunes, arias, jazz numbers and folk songs to convey the tensions and drama in a New York City tenement block over the course of two brutally hot days in the 1940s.
The opera will be performed by two separate casts with full orchesgtra conducted by Eric Trudel. Principal performers include Cidalia Alves, Greg Sullivan and Erick Sanchez, all of Stamford. Also playing prominent roles are Jacqueline Buotote of Watertown; Alexander Petrie of Griswold; Annie Bryson of Shelton; David Sylvia of Orange and Emily Theil of Beacon Falls, NY.
