Former New Milford Hospital Radiologist Sanctioned

A former New Milford Hospital radiologist was sanctioned by the state Medical Examining Board, reports the News-Times of Danbury.

The News-Times of Danbury is reporting that Dr. Michael Waldman, formerly of New Milford Hospital, was sanctioned by the state Medical Examining Board.

The News-Times reported the state Department of Health investigated an incident that occurred in 2010 in which Waldman perforated a patient's spleen during a radiological procedure. The patient died.

Waldman was investigated by the Department of Public Health for an April 26, 2010, incident in which, medical examiners determined, he perforated a patient's spleen during a radiological procedure at New Milford Hospital, the News-Times said.

Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital affiliated in 2010 under the umbrella company, Western Connecticut Healthcare, Inc. That company was formerly called Danbury Health Systems. Earlier this month, Western Connecticut Healthcare and Norwalk Hospital announced they are considering an affiliation that would connect hospitals from Norwalk to New Milford through Danbury.
