Grand Opening Announced For Major Addition In Danbury Community
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Ridgefield is opening a new branch in Danbury this week, with a pool and gymnasium for local youths.

DANBURY, CT — City officials Monday announced the grand opening of a new facility in Danbury for local youths and myriad after-school programs.
The City of Danbury marked the opening of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Ridgefield's opening of the "Danbury Clubhouse" at 12 Boughton St.
The clubhouse, according to the Boys and Girls Clubs, "will serve children and teens in grades 1 through 12 with programming in our five core areas — after school, during school vacations, and in the summer."

Once home to the Connecticut Institute for Communities' Danbury Community Center, the site includes a swimming pool and gymnasium, along with several meeting rooms that can house multiple programs/events.
The nonprofit closed the community center in October 2024, with the Boys and Girls Clubs eventually announcing on June 13 that they would be taking over the building.

Club officials said expanding in Danbury made sense because many Danbury children enjoyed camps hosted in nearby Ridgefield.
"This new space will give even more young people access to the safe, welcoming, and enriching environment that is the foundation of our Club," wrote the club last June.
"For many years, families from Danbury have joined us each summer because they value us as a dependable, supportive place where their kids can learn, grow, and thrive.
"We’ve always known these children deserve more than just a few weeks of summer camp — they deserve a place to call their own all year long."
