Joaquim Nunes Lopes, 73, of Danbury, Passed Away

DANBURY, CT — Joaquim Nunes Lopes, 73, of Danbury, passed away on June 1, 2016. He was the loving husband of Mrs. Maria Celina de Andrade (Pina) Lopes.

Joaquim was born on November 1, 1942 in Dornelas, Portugal: son of the late Jose and Rosa (Nunes) Lopes. Joaquim served in Guinea, West Africa until 1964.

A resident of Danbury for the past 40 years, he retired from Heli-Coil Company in 2006. He enjoyed spending his days working on his garden and he loved traveling to Portugal. He was also an avid Benfiquista.

Joaquim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maria Celina and his children: Sonia Marisa Pina Lopes, Maria de Fatima Lopes-Estanqueiro and her husband Luis and beloved grandchildren Kyle and Alexis. He is also survived by his sister Augusta Pinto and his nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, on Monday morning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. Friends will be received from 5pm-7pm on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
