Letter: In Support Of Dennis Perkins For 1st Ward Councilman
"If elected, Dennis Perkins is more than willing to roll up his sleeves and work for us to put this solution in place..."
To The Editor:
For the longest time the potholes and drainage problems on our cul de sac, Flintlock Drive in Danbury, were ignored by the city of Danbury. Upon submitting a signed petition to the City Council an ad hoc committee was formed to be reviewed by the city council. The committee was headed by our First Ward representative.
Over time our stretch of roadway is falling apart! Chronic potholes, ice buildup caused by poor drainage and a collapsing drain are dangerous for cars, bicycles and pedestrians to access this road. This can become a major liability if someone gets hurt.

The developer who built these homes was supposed to construct the road to city standards and deed it to the City of Danbury upon completion. The road was never completed and apparently no one in City Hall followed up. It is now in question after 40 years - who owns the road?
Since our first and only Zoom meeting with the City Council back in March of this year, we have tried to contact our First Ward Councilman several times via phone calls and e-mails, to follow up on the status of the ad hoc study and the next planned meeting. As of this writing he has never responded.

Out of frustration we sent an email to Dennis Perkins, who is running for a First Ward City Council seat. Dennis called me immediately and scheduled a meeting. He began to gather information on the problem.
There is a possible solution. The city could issue a 20-year bond to pay for the road upgrade. My neighbors and I are entertaining the possibility to make the bond payments, but we need to kept informed.
If elected, Dennis Perkins is more than willing to roll up his sleeves and work for us to put this solution in place. The First Ward needs a council member who will be responsive to residents. A politician who is available and communicates.
We ask that all First Ward residents join me in voting for Dennis Perkins.
