Letter: In Support of Roberto Alves For Danbury Mayor

"Our city needs leadership that understands the key to improving Danbury's economy is fixing our schools and fixing them now..."

To The Editor:

I am a lifelong, proud resident of Danbury. I was raised here, I am raising my child here too. To me, Danbury is home -- which is why it breaks my heart to see what has happened to our schools and education system. Our city needs leadership that understands the key to improving Danbury’s economy is fixing our schools and fixing them now. That is why I am supporting Councilman
Roberto Alves for Mayor.

Danbury ranks dead-last in Connecticut in per-student spending. 169 out of 169 towns and cities in Connecticut. Recently I heard Roberto say, “Danbury shouldn’t be dead-last in anything.” He’s right. A product of Danbury public schools himself, Roberto sees Danbury’s schools for
what they can be: the lifeblood of a thriving, diverse, successful community. Successful schools
are economic drivers for any community. Danbury can enjoy that too.

Roberto often notes that Danbury’s kids aren’t moving back here. That is due, in part, because
the schools they grew up in have become decayed and overcrowded. Our public school teachers
are wonderful, heroic public servants. Shouldn’t we give them the proper resources to foster the
minds and potential of our children?

The key to Danbury’s economic growth lies in the classroom. Roberto knows that if we improve
our schools, successful professionals from across the state will want to raise their families here. I
care too much about Danbury to see our school systems neglected for any longer. That is why we
need a new and empathetic city leadership; that is why we need Roberto Alves to be our next
Mayor. On November 2nd, I’ll be voting for Councilman Roberto Alves for Mayor and I hope you
do too.
