Letter: In Support of Roberto Alves For Danbury Mayor
"It's time for new leadership and we need a leader who grew up here and continues to live the Danbury experience..."
To the Editor:
For the first time in 20 years, we will elect a new Mayor! We must choose the right leader to
spearhead our path to a brighter future.
The last Mayor certainly left his “Mark” on our city or maybe not so much. Let's ask ourselves,
are we better off now than 20 years ago?

Schools are more overcrowded than ever. DHS with over 3200 students and our middle
schools are bursting at the seams. Traffic is a nightmare and there is no effective traffic plan to
fix it or our pothole riddled roads.
Republicans have been in control of our city and these problems only got worse because their
Mayors and Council have only kicked the can down the road - exacerbating problems that are
now at a breaking point. They’ve found revenue for developer tax giveaways and for several
failed downtown revitalization projects, yet left our children and seniors behind. It’s no wonder
Mayor Mark jumped ship - they've had no solutions.

The Republican alternative is nominating a Brookfield resident to run for Mayor who was quoted
in the Danbury News Times as saying that he would buy or rent in Danbury if he wins. That
demonstrates a disappointing lack of commitment.
It's time for new leadership and we need a leader who grew up here and continues to live the
Danbury experience. Roberto Alves has demonstrated to me that he's 100% committed to
solving the important problems of our city. His hard work as a community volunteer and
Councilman demonstrates his leadership and love for Danbury. His policies for seniors, small
businesses and education are all geared towards strengthening our city. As a father, I know I
can trust Roberto to lead a path to prosperity for our children. Danbury needs an honest and
trustworthy Mayor. That’s why I'm voting for Roberto Alves.
