To The Editor:

This year, Danbury has a once-in-a-generation opportunity, this cycle, to elect leadership that will transform Danbury. That transformation must start at the top of city hall. In this upcoming mayoral election, I will be voting for Councilman Roberto Alves, the only candidate who can do the job right.

What better person to know what needs changing in Danbury than a man of and for ordinary residents of Danbury? Roberto was raised in Danbury; he and his wife Robyn have chosen to raise their own family in Danbury. We can trust Roberto because this is his community, too.

Roberto is interested in the community which means going out and meeting real people where they are, not catering to rich donors behind closed doors. Roberto has been able to continue learning what needs to be fixed in Danbury, because he has been running a grassroots campaign. He plans on fixing our roads, funding our schools and doing all in open view. It sounds so simple, but it’s not what is getting done at city hall right now. Roberto will change that.

He is fighting for a more equitable Danbury his whole adult life. Roberto knows the challenges that lie ahead, are not easy ones, nor will they be quick to solve. However, with a change-agent like Roberto at the helm, city hall will once again start working for Danbury -- not just for itself.

Join me in electing Roberto Alves Mayor of Danbury on November 2nd.
