New Danbury ShopRite Welcomes Huge Crowd, Donates $10K to CT Food Bank

Danbury ShopRite grocery store celebrated their Grand Opening Thursday morning at their new location on Padanaram Road.

DANBURY, CT — The new ShopRite grocery store opened its doors Wednesday morning in the North Street shopping plaza on Padanaram Road in Danbury with a ribbon cutting,a large crowd of people and a large gesture to the community— a $10,000 donation to the Connecticut Food Bank.

The 63,000-square-foot ShopRite store replaces Super Food Mart and is operated by the Cingari family and their Grade A Market, Inc. The store underwent an extensive renovation to meet ShopRite standards and customers can shop for fresh, organic produce and freshly prepared foods in their state-of-the-art supermarket.

A from-scratch bake shop features special occasion cakes and freshly made bread, the meat department has trained butchers and the full service seafood department includes fresh catch deliveries, according to a news release sent by the company. The floral shop and full service deli department with gourmet and grab-and-go items and a wide variety of domestic and international cheeses rounds out the offering of the new store.

“We are thrilled to bring ShopRite to this new location in Danbury. We are a family business committed to the families we serve in the communities where ourShopRite stores operate in Connecticut,” said Sam Cingari, vice president of Grade A Market.

Sam’s father, Salvatore Cingari, established Grade A Market and opened his first grocery storefront in 1943. Today the business includes three generations of the Cingaris who help run the family’s 11 ShopRite stores in Connecticut.

The new ShopRite store on Padanaram Road, is still accepting job applications and is looking for full- and part-time workers. The store is open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
