Obituary: Horton 'Bud' Adams, Jr., 92, Of Danbury

After he retired, Bud volunteered for many local organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Kairos Prison Ministry and Tarrywile Park.

DANBURY, CT — Horton Knight Adams, Jr. passed away on Monday, Dec. 11 after an extended illness. He was age 92 and spent his last day with his beloved wife, Doris, celebrating their monthly wedding anniversary tradition. They would have been married 65 years on January 10th. His last two weeks were filled with visits from immediate and extended family from the tri-state area, as he was loved by all.

Better known as “Bud,” he was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Elmhurst, Queens. He was active in the Boy Scouts and served in the New York Army National Guard, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. As the project manager for two construction companies, he was proud of supervising the building of many structures in the New York area and beyond. Examples include the air traffic control tower at JFK, CBS Broadcasting and Memorial Sloan-Kettering in Manhattan, and Belmont Racetrack on Long Island.

He retired and moved to Danbury and was an active member at the Valley Presbyterian Church located in Brookfield. He volunteered for many local organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Kairos Prison Ministry and Tarrywile Park.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Peter and Paul, their wives, Colleen and Suzanne; and grandchildren: Danielle and husband, Jimmy Flaherty, Alexa, Lucas and Connor.
All are invited to a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Valley Presbyterian Church, 21 West Whisconier Road, Brookfield.
