UPDATE: Police ID Danbury Resident Fatally Struck By Motor Vehicle
The accident occurred Wednesday evening in the area of Lake Avenue Ext. and Mill Ridge Road.
DANBURY, CT — Officials have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a passing motor vehicle in the area of Lake Avenue Ext. and Mill Ridge Road Wednesday night.
A police spokesperson has named 40-year-old Garrett Rich of Danbury as the victim who was taken to Danbury Hospital and pronounced dead after the mishap.
Danbury police responded to the area at 7:29 p.m. for a motor vehicle accident. First responders found Rich lying in the westbound lane of Lake Avenue Ext. in front of the Ethan Allen Hotel, with significant injuries. Witnesses told police the pedestrian was struck by a passing motor vehicle.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to police spokesperson Erin Henry.
Lake Avenue Ext. was closed for several hours while the initial investigation was completed by the Danbury Police Accident Investigation Team.
