Professional Matchmaker Connects Danbury Singles With Personal Touch

In a dating world revolving mostly around apps, technology and speed dating, Connectricity Matchmaking stands out among the rest.

DANBURY, CT — When Ridgefield resident Trenia Norford speaks about her business Connectricity, the sparks she hopes to ignite in her clients can’t help but sparkle from her eyes. “For me it’s a passion,” she said from her Ridgefield office. “I want to give people that feeling they get when you’re first in love— like particles coming together… electricity,” she explained when sharing about her business name choice.

“I believe everyone has a spark–that special something that makes them not only different from everyone else, but infinitely valuable to other people who need exactly that kind of spark in their lives.”
Founded by Norford in 2012 in Chicago, Connectricity was born out of her love for matchmaking she had successfully done over the course of many years. “When I meet someone I’m automatically thinking of who they would be good with.”

What used to be talked about only in Fiddler on the Roof or the Will Smith, Kevin James movie Hitch, matchmaking is making a comeback among young professionals who have had it with sites and apps like Tinder, OK Cupid and Match.com.

“What I offer is much more personal,” Norford said. “Apps are so impersonal and can be overwhelming, taking up a lot of time and energy. What I do is take away all of the work by doing it for you.”
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Norford began her career in publishing in New York and after switching career paths into banking, relocated to Ohio. She and her husband, also from New York, were friends for ten years before they finally took a chance on each other and, two kids and a happy marriage later, are still going strong.

The couple moved to Chicago after her husband’s job relocated them and after five years in the windy city are happy to be back in close proximity to New York.

Norford said she was inspired to begin her own matchmaking service while in Chicago after successfully matching over a dozen of her friends. “As long as I can remember, she’s been in love with love. From my first college internship with talk shows to my career as a professional matchmaker, helping people find their own way to happiness has always been my passion.”

The friendly vibe of Chicago’s downtown area was the perfect start for her singles nights she planned while building her business. Now that Norford is in Connecticut, she’s decided to relaunch Connectricity with a big party at Village Tavern in Ridgefield.

“In 2009, I married my best friend of ten years, Brad– the only man who ever got me to move to a new city for him. We moved to the Windy City in 2010, and two years later I founded Connectricity as a way to do professionally what I’d already been doing for years for friends as an aficionado— helping truly amazing people find one another. We moved to Ridgefield in 2015 and are excited to re-launch Connectricity in Connecticut with our first big event at Village Tavern on Wednesday, Oct. 25th.”

Norford explains that starting a business such as hers in a big city like Manhattan could be a bit more challenging as New Yorkers don’t tend to be as social with strangers.

“Ridgefield, Stamford and Westchester is the perfect place because it’s filled with young professionals who want confidentiality. It’s a sensitive topic for people in general and my personalized approach makes it much easier,” Norford explained.

“We chose the Village Tavern for the hip, modern vibe and it’s located in the heart of the area we fell in love with. That upscale vibe represents clients on Connectricity. Our plan is to host Singles nights monthly and build a database across Fairfield and Westchester Counties,” Norford stated.

For people who are looking for accomplished, educated, commitment-minded singles, Norford said her approach seems to work. Clients come to her after years of dating when they are ready to consider alternate ways for meeting the one.

So how does it all work? By utilizing her extensive database, Connectricity recruits, networks and screens potential matches to find the one that’s right for you. Each potential match meets Norford for consultation and interview. At that meeting, Norford digs deep to get to know each person in order to facilitate potential matches for her clients.

If Connectricity doesn’t have the right match in their database, Norford reaches out to her network of licensed, professional matchmakers across the country to find the right one. They set the matches up on a date and afterwards, provide valuable feedback. This provides her clients with valuable insight to help people to become more successful on future dates.

Norford invites all local singles to join her at her Connecticut business launch party, the first of many Connectricity Singles Nights at Village Tavern on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 from 7 – 10 p.m. Connectricity connects you with your perfect partner in a personalized way- not staring at your phone through an app. This is fun, face-to-face human interaction. Join host and Professional Matchmaker Trenia Norford, along with local singles, at Village Tavern, 378 Main St., Ridgefield, for fun fall cocktails including Pumpkintinis and Apple Cider Prosecco and a delicious special harvest menu at discounted prices.
