Rain and Lightning Hit Danbury

Danbury appeared to miss the worst of the damage that hit parts of New York Thursday.

Wires were in trees, some trees were burning, but as of 7:46 p.m., Fire Chief Geoffrey Herald said Danbury appeared to miss the worst of Thursday evening's storm.

He said wires were reported down on Mill Plain Road, Joe's Hill, Cedar Crest, Rowan Street, Old Ridgebury Road, Barnum Road and Oak Street.

"These are wires down," Herald said.

CL&P reported 810 customers out of power in Danbury as of 9:32 p.m. and as of 5:43 a.m. that number was down to 92.
