Readers' Choice Winner: Yoga Studios

We had a record 476 votes cast for Danbury's Best Yoga Studio in this week's Readers' Choice Poll.

First, we had 476 votes cast for the best yoga studio, and Yoga Culture earned 216 of those votes or 45 percent of the total.

Sounds like a clear victory, but it isn't.

Patch rules, see attached PDF, say the poll winner gets 10 points, the second placer gets eight, and the third-placer gets six. THEN any of those three with a review posted on that firm's directory listing (its Patch web page,) gets another 10 points.

Our third place finisher, No Place Like Om, earned six points for its third place finish in the poll with 65 votes cast. It also has a review, and it is a five-star review. (Two people gave it good reviews, actually.) That gives it a total of 6 plus 10, or 16 points, making this week's Readers' Choice Winner No Place Like Om.

Not too shabby.

Sarah rated No Place Like Om on the yoga studio's Patch directory listing, a free webpage on patch. This is what Sarah said, "

Melinda and Marc are always so professional, pleasant, knowledgeable and a joy to be around. I've had quite a few events there and they always do a great job in helping me. The retail store has lovely, and hard to find choices. I LOVE it there! Sarah R."

A second review of No Place Like Om was written by Renee B, who wrote,

Marc and Melinda are wonderful people, knowledgeable and sensitive. A great place for classes and yoga-related and other gifts, too."

Remember that taking the time to review a business can make the difference between victory and defeat. Here is how to review a business. Sign on to Patch.

Go the Directory and search for the business in the search box. Find the business and then click on "Review." There you can have your say. That critical step is worth 10 points in the poll, as much as a first place finish.

Next week's Readers' Choice Poll will look at Danbury's Favorite Sushi restaurant.
