Republican Primary Day Draws ... Almost No One
Voter turnout for the Republican primary election today is very light.
Four people voted at the Danbury War Memorial Republican primary spot Tuesday between its opening at 6 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.
Technically, it was seven people, but three of them were poll workers. Other voting spots for the primary are Danbury High School, Pembroke Elementary School, Broadview Middle School, Park Avenue School, Shelter Rock School, Mill Ridge and, again, the War Memorial.
"We expected a low turnout," said Joe Cavo, president of the Danbury and a leading Danbury Republican. "By the time the primary gets to Connecticut, it's pretty sorted out. We can see a clear front runner."

Mitt Romney, a former governor of Massachusetts and business man, appears to have the Republican Party nomination for president wrapped up. His wife, Ann Romney spoke at the Stamford Marriott Monday night to a packed house.
Early front runners like Rick Santorum and Herman Cain have been wiped out in the process. The primary ballot lists Santorum still, as it does Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul and Romney.

Cavo cautioned about the low turnout, saying this has nothing to do with Republican enthusiasm for the November presidential election.
"When our candidate is determined, we will get behind that person to win a victory in November," Cavo said. "Without a doubt the voters will be there in November."
