Sandy Hook Violinist Plays Danbury's Richter House

Eleven year old Zoe Lonsinger will perform with Andrew Gordon May 22.

Eleven year old violinist Zoe Lonsinger returns by popular request for a performance at Richter House, 100 Aunt Hack Road, Danbury on Sunday, May 22, 3 p.m., sponsored by the Richter Association for the Arts.

Zoe, from Sandy Hook, has performed as a soloist with Waterbury Symphony in 2014, playing Wieniawski’s Scherzo Tarantelle, and Danbury Symphony in 2013, playing Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole. She studies privately with Joey Corpus in Manhattan. She has performed several solo recitals; including benefit performances, public recitals, and home concerts; and has participated in masterclasses with Ray Chen, Paul Huang, Brian Lewis, Benjamin Beilman, the Enzo string quartet, and John Carney. Zoe also enjoys playing chamber music and has been coached in piano sonatas and piano trios with Eileen Buck and participated in Cuatro Puntos’ Chamber Music for Peace workshop in 2016. She has attended summer programs, including a Summer Chamber Music Workshop led by Allison Eldredge and Yoshi Akimoto in CT in 2015, the International Music Festival and Institute in 2013, Sound Encounters in 2011, and the Waterville Valley Music Center Chamber Music Festival in 2010. Zoe was a scholarship recipient for the International Music Festival and Institute in 2013 and after the festival, she was invited as part of a select group to participate in a five day tour in the Baltimore area, performing eight performances as both a soloist and part of a piano trio. Zoe has received awards in the Muse International Competition in Santorini Greece (2015), Rondo Vanguard Competition (2015), Vivo Music Competition (2015), New York Music Competition (2014 and 2015), the American Protégé Competition (2014), the Bravura Concerto Competition (2014 and 2015), the National League of Performing Arts Concerto Competition (2014) and the Danbury Music Centre Concerto Competition (2013 and 2015). She has especially enjoyed performing in Carnegie Weill Hall as part of winners recitals for New York Music Competition, Rondo Vanguard Competition, and American Protégé Competition. In addition to playing her violin, Zoe loves to read, dance, play games with her family, and learn about history and dolphins.

She will be accompanied by Andrew Gordon, a graduate of the New England Conservatory and the Juilliard School, Music Director and Choirmaster at Diamond Hill UMC in Cos Cob, CT, and principal keyboard player of the Greenwich Symphony. He is often heard as a chamber musician with the orchestra's principal members, with whom he played last October in Beethoven's Triple Concerto.
