Carol Ann Fox, at the age of 83, passed away peacefully on Feb. 16, 2025, having built a distinguished career as Vice President of Construction at ConAm in San Diego since the late '60s while also enjoying travel, reading, cultivating California fruit trees, and caring for numerous dogs and cats.
Tanios Moussa Ataya, 93, passed away peacefully on Feb. 21, 2025, having distinguished himself as a sought-after mason and expert builder—skills honed through early trade experience and a passion for construction—and later supporting his children's pursuits after relocating to the U.S. in 1997.

Mary Anne Hoeppner, 82, passed away on Feb. 17, 2025; born on Nov. 9, 1942, she trained at St. Vincent’s Infant Hospital of Nursing, worked as a nurse at Edgewater Hospital and Skokie Valley Community Hospital, met her husband while employed at Jewel Food grocery store in 1958, married in 1966, and later served as a sacramental director at St. Gregory’s Church while raising three children.
Mrs. Winifred D’mello, age 97, passed away on Feb. 16, 2025; born on Oct. 12, 1927 in Mumbai, India, she worked as a teacher, founded her own nursery school, actively participated in the Lions Club, taught knitting at a Senior Center, earned multiple awards at the Bridgewater Country Fair for knitting, embroidery, and sewing—including the Presidential Award for Community Service.

Manuel Alberto Tomas, 78, passed away on Feb. 19, 2025; born on Sept. 9, 1946 in Cadoico, Portugal, he worked as a service technician at Leahy's Fuel Inc. for over 40 years, was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, actively participated in the Portuguese-American community, was a member of Casa de Benfica and the Portuguese Culture Center, enjoyed tending to his yard, and took great joy in spending time with friends and family.
Jody W. Hunter, 59, passed away on Feb. 16, 2025 after a brief illness; a longtime automotive mechanic and 1983 graduate of New Canaan High School, he was the son of the late Stanley W. Hunter, Jr. and Margaret A. (Lindquist) Hunter.
Richard I. Schlemmer, 84, passed away on Feb. 17, 2025, after serving as a radio operator in the U.S. Army in Alaska following graduation from Henry Abbott Technical School, operating Pride Carpentry for many years, and later working as a handyman at Reynolds Ridge in Bethel while actively volunteering on community projects.
Harold I. Starr, 94, passed away on Feb. 16, 2025, after serving as an Air Force veteran at Samson Air Force Base, playing football at Danbury High School, and working for many years at the US Postal Service before retiring in 2005.
Robert "Bear" Calvin Greene Jr., 74, passed away on Feb. 14, 2025, having spent his life as a dedicated truck driver at Marcus Dairy, a passionate softball player and manager, a proud veteran and active member of the DAV, and a devoted fan of Notre Dame Football, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New York Mets, Knicks, and Rangers, while also cherishing time spent with his family, especially his granddaughter Emily.
