Stew Leonards Planning Bank Next To Danbury Store

This is a video of the June Planning Commission meeting shot by Danbury's John Neumuller. The entire meeting will air at 7 p.m. Saturday on Comcast Cable channel 23.

is branching out beyond dairy, wine and pharmaceuticals with a new promotion to open a bank in its Federal Road parking lot.

The Danbury is reviewing the application, and it hosted one public hearing. The discussion will continue later this month at the commission's next meeting.

Danbury Resident Lynn Waller didn't oppose the bank directly when she spoke at the public hearing, but she asked the commission to consider where handicapped parking spaces are located. She said it is a long walk for people visiting Stew Leonard's when all the handicapped spots are taken. Waller, who walks with a cane, said counting the dairy store's handicapped spots toward the bank is a disservice to people with handicaps, because it will be a long walk.
