Despite repeated criticism of past administrations for underfunding education, Mayor Alves has failed to deliver meaningful academic progress for Danbury students. A new report released by
Niche gives the Danbury Public School District a C+ grade for academics, unchanged from prior years and a clear sign that the needle has not moved under his leadership.

“Mayor Alves has spent years blaming others for the state of our schools, yet his administration
has not produced results,” said Councilman Emile Buzaid. “We need leadership that prioritizes outcomes, not optics.” Buzaid emphasized the need for strategic investment in curriculum, teacher support, and student services—not just rhetoric. “Danbury’s families deserve more than excuses. They deserve a mayor who will fight for real academic excellence,” he said. As the city prepares for municipal elections, Buzaid is calling for a renewed focus on education that goes beyond surface-level metrics. “A strong school system is the backbone of a thriving community. We must do better—and we will.” Vote Emile Buzaid for Mayor.
