Vendors Tried to Steal Merchandise from Lowes: Danbury Police

The two men were employed as independent vendors assigned to the store at the time of the alleged crimes, police say.

DANBURY, CT — Two North Carolina men who were working at the Lowes Home Improvement store on Eagle Road arrested last week for allegedly attempting to steal store merchandise, according to Danbury Police. Xavier Armstrong, 24, of Nashville, NC, and Adrian Hagans, 22, of Tarboro, NC, were employed as independent vendors assigned to Lowes at the time of their arrest on April 12.

Police say the store's loss prevention staff detained Armstrong and Hagans at 7:47 a.m. after seeing the two stashing store merchandise throughout the facility for several days. On the day of their arrest, staff saw the two men try and retrieve the stashed items and leave the store without paying for them. To sign up for Danbury breaking news alerts and more, click here.

Police say the items were valued at over $1,400.

Both Armstrong and Hagans were charged with larceny in the fourth degree and conspiracy to commit larceny. Neither entered a plea at arraignment and both were released on a promise to appear.

Both are due back in Danbury Superior Court on May 4.
