Wrong-Way Danbury DUI Motorist Collides With Police Cruiser: Troopers
The Danbury motorist fled the scene after sideswiping a mirror off a police cruiser while traveling the wrong way on I-84, state police said
DANBURY, CT — A 26-year-old Danbury man sideswiped a state trooper's cruiser while driving the wrong way on Interstate 84 early Saturday, according to a state police report.
Just before 1:30 Saturday morning, Connecticut State Police were notified of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Interstate 84 westbound in the area of Exit 8 near Danbury. Troopers stopped the 2023 Nissan Rogue SV off Exit 11 in Newtown.
Following their investigation, the troopers charged the Bradford Drive resident driving the Nissan with DUI, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, reckless driving, evading, interfering with an officer, and reckless endangerment.

Shortly before being pulled over, the motorist had sideswiped the driver's side mirror off of a police cruiser while traveling eastward on I-84 West, and fled the scene, according to the trooper's report.
Police transferred the motorist to the Bridgeport Correctional Center in lieu of a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Monday.
