2023 Darien Election Voter Guide: Candidates, Polling Places
Here's what you need to know concerning the 2023 Darien local elections including the candidates, polling places, voting hours and more.

DARIEN, CT — On Nov. 7, Darien residents will cast their votes for several key municipal positions.
On the ballot are candidates for first selectman, selectman, board of finance, board of education, Representative Town Meeting, planning & zoning commission, board of assessment appeals, tax collector, town clerk, town treasurer and constable.
Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m., will be allowed to vote.

Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote using Election Day registration. To receive your absentee ballot, complete and sign an application and return it to the DarienTown Clerk, or you can request an absentee ballot online.

Selectman — vote for up to two
The Democratic candidates are Michael J. Burke and Sarah Neumann.
The Republican candidates are Marcy Minnick and Monica McNally.
Town Clerk
Republican Christa Sheehan McNamara is the only candidate.
Town Treasurer
Republican Joan Hendrickson is the only candidate.
Tax Collector
Republican Kathleen M. Larkins is the only candidate.
Board of Finance — vote for up to two
The Democratic candidate is Dan Bumgardner.
The Republican candidates are James R. Palen Jr., and Taylor Carter.
Board of Education — vote for up to two
The Democratic candidate is Sara Parent.
The Republican candidates are Dennis J. Maroney and Gregory D Grambling.
Board of Assessment Appeals
Republican Richard Dolcetti is the only candidate.
Planning & Zoning Commission — full term — vote for up to two
The Democratic candidate is George A. Reilly.
The Republican candidates are Amy Barsanti and Michael Nedder.
Planning & Zoning Commission — to fill vacancy for two years
Republican Jamie Zionic is the only candidate.
Constable — vote for up to two
Republican candidates are John D. Goodwin Jr., and Alan Hyatt.
Representative Town Meeting
There are candidates for the non-partisan RTM in several districts.
District 1 - vote for up to 10: Patrick Keane, Karen McNicoll, Deirdre McGovern, Patti Finn Bumgardner, Lois J. Schneider, Luisa Brakman, Bert von Stuelpnagel, Jenny Schwartz, Jessica Cahill, William A. Clarkson.
District 2 - vote for up to seven: Ann-Gail Hult, Jeffery Hudson, Millyn Gaaserud, Vincent Arguimbau, Peter Marousek, Jacqueline L. Miller.
District 3 - vote for up to 12: Bill Dunn, Beth Lane, Anne King, Adele M. Conniff, Thomas Moore, Kirk Ruddy, Kari Cardone, Seth Morton, Sue-Ellen Mitchell, Eric Golus.
District 4 - vote for up to nine: Jim Cameron, Joseph Miceli, Dan Guller, Andrew Millar, Christine Castles, Rolf C. Obin, Frank Kemp, Paige Crist, Sandra Savage.
District 5 - vote for up to 11: Erika Procaccini, James M. Patrick, Tony Larino, Susan J. Marks, Rohit Parwal, H. William Smith, Holly Huang, Kenneth A. Fiveson, Amy Zabetakis.
District 6 - vote for up to nine: Verna Young, Janet Grogan, William Van Loan Jr., Mary Nevin Gauthier, Elizabeth Lucas, Laura Pesce-Gray, Barry Baldwin, Peter Mihopoulos, Martha Caroline Luz, Peter Orphanos, Theresa Vogt.
