Darien Arts Center Presents Orchestra Lumos in A Tale of Two Prodigies
Experience Bach, Mozart, and Beach performed by Orchestra Lumos in an unforgettable live concert on October 19th
Darien, CT — The Darien Arts Center invites the community to experience an unforgettable afternoon of chamber music when Orchestra Lumos brings A Tale of Two Prodigies to the DAC stage on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. This performance is part of Orchestra Lumos’s Small-Space Series, designed to bring world-class artistry into intimate settings.
The 75-minute concert will feature works by J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, and Amy Beach, performed by an exceptional ensemble of acclaimed musicians.
Violinist Robert Zubrycki, Concertmaster of the New York City Chamber Orchestra, has appeared at Carnegie Hall, with the American Ballet Theatre orchestra, and in numerous Broadway productions. Violinist Laura Bald, a member of Orchestra Lumos since 1984, has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the American Symphony, and on Broadway. Cellist Eliot Bailen, founder of the Sherman Chamber Ensemble and artistic director of several New York chamber series, has been praised by The New York Times for presenting “the Platonic ideal of a chamber music concert.” Pianist Tanya Bannister, hailed by The Washington Post for playing “with intelligence, poetry and proportion,” is a winner of both the Concert Artists Guild and New Orleans International Piano Competitions, with appearances at the Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall, The Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall.

The program includes selections from Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 14 in E-flat Major, K. 449 (chamber version for viola and cello), and Amy Beach’s richly expressive Piano Quartet.
“This concert is a rare opportunity to experience extraordinary musicians performing timeless works of chamber music in an intimate setting right here in Darien,” said Wendy Mitchell, Executive Director of the Darien Arts Center.
