Darien Falls To New Canaan In Class L Quarterfinals

The longtime rivals matched up once again on Wednesday in the CIAC Class L quarterfinals.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien High School Blue Wave football team fell to the New Canaan Rams 42-7 in Wednesday's CIAC Class L quarterfinals from Dunning Stadium.

Blue Wave defensive back Chase Lane provided a jolt of energy when he intercepted a pass from New Canaan's Andrew Esposito and ran it back for a touchdown with eight minutes left in the second quarter. The extra point gave Darien a 7-6 advantage, but it turned out to be the Blue Wave's only lead of the game.

New Canaan reeled off 35 straight points, fueled by four touchdowns from Esposito who led the top-seeded and undefeated Rams to their 11th win of the season.
