Darien To Honor Veterans With 'Wreaths Across America' Event

DARIEN, CT — Darien will host a ceremony next month as part of National Wreaths Across America Day, when volunteers nationwide place wreaths on veterans' graves to honor their service.

The event is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Dec. 13, at the Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery. According to organizers, volunteers will begin placing wreaths immediately following the ceremony.

Organizers are continuing to seek donations to ensure all 2,200 veterans from Darien are honored this year. Each wreath costs $17, and contributions can be made at wreathsacrossamerica.org.

The organization’s mission is to "remember, honor and teach," and its annual December observance takes place at more than 3,000 locations across the country.
