Darien Land Trust’s “Celebrate the Land” Spotlights Sustainability
Support and Celebrate Conservation

On Saturday, September 6th, supporters of the Darien Land Trust will gather at Waterbury Field for Celebrate the Land—an elegant evening of cocktails, dinner, and live acoustic bluegrass under the open sky. Preserved in 2009, Waterbury Field offers a stunning backdrop for the Land Trust’s commitment to the preservation of natural space.
In 2025, the Darien Land Trust made sustainability the guiding theme of its work, and this year’s event reflects that focus in every detail. Guests will enjoy a locally inspired, bountiful family-style dinner by Palmer’s Catering & Events, who partner with nearby farms to source the freshest and most sustainable ingredients.
Local farms will also set the stage in the evening’s décor. Flowers donated by The Hickories Farm in Ridgefield and Darien’s own Eighth Acre, will be transformed into floral arrangements that highlight the beauty of the season.

Thanks to the partnership with the DCA Thrift Shop, guests will dine with vintage china, eliminating the need for single-use items. At the close of the evening, wildflower arrangements will be delivered to residents at The Residence at Selleck’s Woods, extending the joy of the night. And to ensure nothing goes to waste, food scraps will be collected for composting by the Darien Department of Public Works.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a toast to conservation at the welcome bar. Guests will have their choice of On River Time, a private label rosé from WinePort; the signature DLTini, crafted with Montauk Distilling Company’s Modico Vodka and sweetened with Land Trust wildflower honey; Captain Zig Beer; or a selection of Heineken beers, including non-alcoholic options.
