Darien Public Schools Students To Perform With West Point Concert Band

The West Point Concert Band is one of the nation's most distinguished military ensembles.

DARIEN, CT — Darien Public Schools students will perform with the West Point Concert Band in a special show set for Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in the Darien High School Auditorium.

Presented by DPS and the Darien Music Parents Association, the highly-anticipated event, titled "American Tapestry," will feature performances by Darien band students in grades 5-12 right alongside the United States Military Academy’s premier band.

Following a brief intermission, the West Point Concert Band will perform their own full set.

The West Point Concert Band is one of the nation’s most distinguished military ensembles, and its performance will showcase a diverse repertoire reflecting the rich musical heritage of America.

Lt. Col. Daniel Smith-Toven, commander and conductor of the West Point Band, will lead both the Darien bands and the West Point Concert Band. Throughout the school day, Smith-Toven will also work with students as a guest clinician, offering them a once-in-a-lifetime educational experience.
