Darien Realtor of the Year Named

The Darien Board of REALTORS, Inc. has named Gen Distance as their “2024 REALTOR OF THE YEAR”. The current Board of Officers and Directors selected Gen based on her dedication and passion to the REALTOR Community on a local, state and national level.

Ms. Distance has served as the President of the Darien Board of REALTORS for 2023 and 2024. She is also a Certified Professional Standards resource for the CT Association of REALTORS, Inc. On a state level, Gen has served on the Connecticut Association of REALTORS as a Director from 2022 to the present day. She is also Chair of the Connecticut Association of REALTORS Risk Reduction Committee; Served on the Raymond F. Gates, Jr. Scholarship Committee; and in 2024 she is serving as Region 1 Vice President for the Connecticut Association of REALTORS. On a National level, Gen serves as a Director of the National Association of REALTORS representing small Associations nationwide; She is a 2024 Delegate Body representative and also sits on the National Association of REALTORS 2024 Leading Edge Advisory Board.

Gen is the main liaison between the Darien Board of REALTORS and the Darien Chamber of Commerce and is dedicated to giving back to the Darien Community and it’s local charitable organizations. She exemplifies the REALTOR spirit in every way. To quote a fellow REALTOR, “Gen is an example of ethics, etiquette, grace and compassion. She has immense knowledge of the real estate industry at every level. She’s a pleasure to work with and I’m proud to call her my Peer”.

Outside of real estate, Gen’s interests include serving on The Cultured Pearl Foundation, Inc.: 2020-2022 President and Board Chair; 2022-2024 Re-elected President and Board Chair; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Omicron Upsilon Omega Chapter: 2018-2022 Executive Committee; 2018-2022 Secretary; 2023-2024 Secretary by Special Election; Archivist and Historian (2018-2024). Friends School of Baltimore: 2021-2025 Alumni Association Committee, 2022-2025 Board of Trustees.

Founded in 1930, the Darien Board of REALTORS serves real estate professionals and residents of Darien by promoting & defending homeownership in CT. In partnership with Connecticut REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS, the Board is dedicated to promoting professionalism and ethical real estate practices, while also providing industry information, political advocacy and education to its members and the community, with an increased focus on kindness, diversity, equality and Fair Housing.
