Darien RTM Seeks New Candidates
Registered voters interested in running as write-in candidates must register with the Town Clerk's office by Oct. 16.

DARIEN, CT — While there are not enough candidates for the upcoming election to fill all seats on Darien’s 100-member Representative Town Meeting, there is still time for write-in candidates to get elected.
"As it stands now, the RTM will only fill 85 seats of a possible 100 seats on Election Day. That means there will be ‘empty seats’ in most districts unless other registered voters choose to apply as write-ins," Town Clerk Christa McNamara said in a news release.
The 100-member legislative body, which represents residents across six districts, has openings in five of them. The breakdown is:

- District 1: full
- District 2: one empty seat
- District 3: five empty seats
- District 4: two empty seats
- District 5: six empty seats
- District 6: one empty seat
Registered voters interested in running as write-in candidates must register with the Town Clerk’s office by Oct. 16. To win a seat, they must receive at least 25 write-in votes.
