Darien Students Selected As U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates

The scholar program recognizes and honors some of the nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors.

DARIEN, CT — Two seniors from Darien High School have been selected as candidates for the 2025 United States Presidential Scholars Program.

Bronwyn Fitzgerald and Lauren Zhang were recognized based on broad academic achievement and having scored exceptionally well on the SAT or ACT.

"We are so proud of Bronwyn and Lauren for their outstanding contributions to DHS and their remarkable accomplishments. Congratulations to them both on this well-deserved honor!" said DHS Principal Ellen Dunn in a news release.

Established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program recognizes and honors some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors.

Each year, up to 161 students are named as presidential scholars, one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students.
