DARIEN, CT — Darien TV79, the Town’s government and community television station, has just added two new features to enhance viewers’ access to the inner workings of the town.
“We often broadcast as many as 15 different meetings each week,” says Program Director Jim Cameron. “That adds up to a lot of hours, making it a challenge to find what you’re interested in watching.”

“We used to have multiple weekly newspapers with local reporters who covered Darien town government and the Board of Education,” notes TV79 Advisory Board Chairman Mike Wheeler. “But the media environment has changed. It is now daunting for a citizen to keep up with what is going on in town.”
To simplify viewing, TV79 now offers AI (artificial intelligence) summaries of meetings with timestamps. “That means you can glance at the summary and click once to go directly to the part you want to watch,” says Cameron.

But the channel’s latest addition is a weekly newsletter, “The Best of TV79”, available by email each Saturday during budget season.
“This will provides the headlines of the week with video timestamps that take the reader directly to the relevant meeting discussions,” says Mike Wheeler. “You can skim it quickly and click on the items that most interest you. We hope it will be a valuable resource but really want viewer feedback.”
